What is Chaud Time?

Chaud Time was originally a house party which took place once a semester in the early evening before going out. It was born at the flat-inauguration of three EHL (Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne) students from Gstaad in February 2004. People were always asked to bring drinks which generally caused quite a bit of laughter and happiness all along the evening.

Due to troubles with the neighbours, a new location had to be found in order to continue the parties. After one party in the “refuge de Sauvabelin” in August 2006, we decided to organise our “get togethers” from now on in small unknown bars who agreed on closing the bar only for us and making it private. The only problem was that people weren’t allowed to bring their own drinks anymore (obviously)… So we decided to make them pay a certain amount of money in order to provide them with an “open bar” which made it possible to keep the special atmosphere we had in our apartment.

Due to the big success, it was getting more and more difficult to find bars that were big enough to accommodate all the party people especially for the parties after EHL’s final exams. So we decided to move our parties to clubs and organised in June 2007 the biggest Chaud Time so far at Amnesia in Lausanne. A couple of months later, we had our first party at the famous Chlösterli in Gstaad and it shouldn’t be the last one...

In Winter 07/08, we then organised our first New Years Eve party at Rosie’s Place in Gstaad as well and thanks to this great venue and the people of course, it was a huge success and everyone was talking about it.

What’s special about these parties?

It’s the people who come to our parties who contribute a lot to the success and the unique atmosphere. People are always in great shape and this is mostly due to the dates we pick.

Why this name?

The name “Chaud Time” came from a friend of ours who was talking about an upcoming event he was looking forward to and said it is going to be chaud time. We liked that expression and decided to call our parties like that. It reflects as well the atmosphere that we would like to achieve and the bilingual character of EHL. Last but not least, it’s a play on words linked to the famous expression “Showtime”.
